Dirk Serries ( Antwerp ) is a Belgian composer and musician. His music was released until about 2007 under the stage name vidnaObmana , after that under Fear Falls Burning . Serries composes music at the intersection of ambient and minimal music . Serries composes within the field of ambient music in the movements of isolationism (a subgenre of dark ambient) and organic ambient.
Career
[ edit | edit source text ]Like many who started with electronic music in the late 1980s, Serries initially released various cassette releases , which were only distributed in small circles. Word-of-mouth advertising was needed to ensure that the music reached a wider audience. Often, the music could only be ordered by mail from the artist or through specialized companies. Only later did the ambient music movement become large enough and the cost of CD release low enough to get the music out there.
Serries has collaborated with numerous ambient artists, most notably Steve Roach . He also worked with Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree , who also released several ambient albums under his alias Bass Communion .
In 2005 the first albums were released under his new stage name.
