Concept: After an afternoon of hanging with Nik and (attempting) explaining my desires with the website, namely what I want it to do, my reasonings for it and the devices I derive inspiration from and the opposite, I'm approaching my gear differently. I'm currently in a state of disillusionment with conventional gridded sequence mapping as it's too central - a problem with a centralised hub is it renders viewing its parts individually and isolatedly quite difficult; whenever you've got a layered drum ensemble your brain begins interpreting it as a unitary thing, which I suppose is inevitable but I'd rather that happen upon listening and not exacerbated by looking at a box or screen which offers little to no separational monitoring. My rectification for this issue would be to a; set up an electronic kit in my space-b; lay out a horizontal array of sequencers with part-specialization (i.e. one sequencer deals with kick drum patterns solely and another snares and the remainder)-or c; design my own playback devices which communicate with sequence storage on the web interface to initiate/terminate pattern playback.
