Upon the initial construction of this page at the end of 2023, I was very much still entrenched within the conventions of guitar, bass, drums, vocals - the verbatim albeit out of order descriptions featured on the yet unpopulated schema in November 2024. Over the course of this last year, I've done a few things; for one, I've distanced myself from guitar in a considerable manner. I've stopped writing longhand journals, regrettably - I've become lazier in ways and this has influenced the music I now create. It must be clear however that the laziness is being offset with perhaps a deeper understanding of musical mechanics that permisses this drop in laboredness. I could cite the de-enthusiasm toward live shows and stage equipment on my part as a parallel realization-adjustment. Of course this 'letting go' of that load enabled focusing on curating a robust and stationary ecosystem that I sit at the center of now as I write this, some two years after the seeds of this shift were sewn. It seems I am staging a confession of some kind - and that isn't necessarily true. Exploring rather the concept of guitar decentralization which occured somewhat subconsciously over time with the displacement of priority in churning out proper guitar-driven matter. I still hold high reverence for all of the bands I've championed in the amply time axis separated early journals familial to the site I conscientiously work to develop now; however I don't consume them on a regular schedule. Last week was probably the first time in the past six months that I've sentiently put on Mortician and Fear Factory, and I'm in the weeds of a break from Godflesh and Pitchshifter, the apple(s) of mid year Jesse's eye. What supplants these metal bands is a fascination with ethnic noise music, namely Muslimgauze but aided by Scarab, though moreso in the aesthetics domain, Vatican Shadow and Pan Sonic. Jungle music and Intelligent Dance Music are exempt here as I interpret those much differently than what I can discern as a potently industrial ethosed, ethnic inspired variant of the export of techniques/devices used in those. Soon there shall be a restructuring to the framework for looped material storage, moving away from the five column deal. This reinforces an imperialistic way of organization and incentive to curate; with a loose, blob-like clustering of like sounds, the margins can be defined as the neighborhoods grow, instead of creating a mile long column next to those stretching a few meters.
